Vision Rehabilitation: A Missing Link in Client Care

The significance of vision impairment is frequently a missing link in rehabilitative efforts. This is particularly true when working with the frail elderly, where the interventions of the health care team often, necessarily, focus on the primary impairment responsible for the individual's disability. Visual impairment may be just one of several comorbidities, and may or may not be diagnosed, or fully understood by those who work with elders. Recognizing, understanding and addressing vision impairment issues can enhance the care you offer.
