WASHINGTON - Eli Lilly and Co. has filed a lawsuit against Ivax Corp. alleging that the latter's Zenith Goldline Pharmaceuticals unit is infringing on patents for Pemax, Lilly's drug used to treat Parkinson's disease. Separately, AstraZeneca is pursuing legal initiatives against Apotex Corp. in a patent infringement case involving Apotex' Torpharm subsidiary.
The Lilly dispute also involves Elan Corp. PLC, the Dublin, Ireland-based drugmaker that has the exclusive rights to sell the Parkinson's drug, known as Permax, in the United States. Lilly is the manufacturer.
